Cecilia Andrews
Andrews’ artistic approach is based on minimalist representation of humankind and nature. Her work is a study of dualities: transparency and opacity, fragility and solidity, lightness and darkness, emptiness and fullness. She explores these complementary/diametrical dynamics in her artwork through the interaction of contrast, the perception of opposition, and the use of varied dimensional media. In her collages, the artist uses rustic, recycled and faded papers as opposed to smooth, shiny and reflective materials. Through this mix of materials, Cécilia Andrews proposes works that explore the identity of our deepest humanity. These mirror portraits call on the public to get close to it, to engage in an interaction. It is in this imaginary space that the artist seeks to establish a dialogue and a symbiosis with the viewer
